BANNER HOSTING

Advertisers have the option to host banners on our own CDN (impression and click tracking will be performed by the FNL backend). Alternatively, banners should be delivered together with the appropriate scripts that will load the banner from the hosting source (impression and click tracking will have to be performed by the 3rd party media shop serving the banners).

It is also recommended, with any action you take, to provide a MOBILE version so that the maximum view-result is achieved.

BANNER SPECIFICATIONS

HTML5 ANIMATED BANNERS

Banners developed with HTML5 must be delivered in packages including all the necessary files and will be edited for their link by us so that we can keep track of the statistics of all the impressions and clicks.

STATIC / ANIMATED GIFs

Image Banners should be delivered as JPG or GIF files that do not exceed 150ΚΒ (if hosted by The FNL Guide) and are the exact dimensions specified in the sizes list above.
The .gif banners can either be static or animated. In special cases, image banners can also be delivered in PNG format.

FLASH / INTERACTIVE BANNERS

The support of this media has been banned by many platforms like Google Display Network and is strongly advised to be accompanied by an animated GIF fallback.

Flash banners should be delivered as a precompiled SWF. If delivering a source package (AS and FLA files), the package should also include any fonts/plugins used in the design so that we can compile the banner without issues. In all cases, the Flash banner must be delivered together with aJPG or GIF image fallback so that it can be served alternatively on devices/systems that do not support Adobe's Flash plugin. If no fallback is delivered, when clicked, the banner will automatically redirect users to Adobe's Flash plugin website, which is not always the optimal behaviour for clients running campaigns.

1. Sizes: The size of the final SWF should not be greater than 150-200ΚΒ (if hosted by The FNL Guide) .

2. Links: The Flash banner should include code that makes use of the “clickTag” (case sensitive) variable.

3. Interactivity: "Webover" or "expandable" banners should be designed to conform with the localization of the FNL banner areas so as to avoid issues with the overlays extending outside the viewable areas of the website. For example, a Square banner served in the right side bar should expand to the left in order to bring the interactive message into the user's field of view.

RICH MEDIA / VIDEO BANNERS

Video banners usually contain pre-compiled .flv or .f4v video. We will need the original video file so that we can export additional formats to ensure its compatibility with HTML5 capable browsers on devices/systems that do not support Adobe's Flash Player. In all cases, each video banner should be accompanied by a cover image which serves as a holding state for the video player.
