Cohiba 1966, rare delights

December 25, 2014
There is no doubt that the most glamorous brand of Habanos, has also had the most interesting news in the past few years! The new Edicion Limitada 2011 ranks among the top cigars the Cubans have ever produced.

Cohiba has given us some of the best Edicion Limitada cigars, the best of which, in my opinion, are the astonishing Sublimes. This year, the Cohiba 1966 Edicion Limitada coincides with the brand`s 45th anniversary and the result is a very unique cigar, marketed in even more limited quantities than is usual for the line.  It is a very dignified cigar 166mm long with a ring gauge of 52 (21mm), sold only in boxes of 10 and made from very strictly selected tobaccos from the San Juan y Martinez and San Luis plantations in Vuelta Abajo, that have matured for at least two years.

It is a sumptuous cigar that I had the opportunity to smoke a few days ago, before it even made it into the Greek market.  Rich and spicy, with all the characteristic roasted aromas of the Edicion Limitada line, but also featuring the complexity that one would expect from a great cigar, fills the mouth with flavours of coffee, spices and leather.  It is a heavy, exquisite cigar, a worthy carrier of the tradition that Cohiba  started with the Maduro 5 line and then with the amazing Behike.

I will not rate it yet, as I want to smoke 1-2 more, but it will be close to 9/10! It is going to be expensive, around €40 each, but it`s worth every penny....just make sure you get to it before it runs out.
