Winter pleasures, the sequel!

December 07, 2012
There is nothing more life affirming than a weekend away from the city. You return fully recharged, with a new lease on life and as we all know, even the hardest problems are managed better with a positive outlook.

If you’re looking for the right destination, I can recommend three value-for-money hotels which will make your search a little easier

Miramonte Chalet Hotel Spa, Agios Athanasios

A luxurious art hotel awaits you a mere 17 kilometres from Kaimakchalan ski centre. Stylish interiors, a comfortable and warm atmosphere and great service are the main selling points here. There are double and triple rooms, junior and exclusive suites and chalets all offering luxury linens, coco mat quilts, fireplaces, jacuzzis as well as handmade furniture and rugs.

Your days here can be full of rich breakfasts, skiing or just relaxing in the wellness centre where there is a heated pool and a number of beauty treatments. In the evening you can try the hotel’s gourmet restaurant and sushi bar to round off the day nicely!

If you want to combine business and pleasure there is also a top of the range conference centre ideal for corporate meetings (see main article photo).

Domotel Mantania, Aspropotamos, Trikala

Two guesthouses form part of a carved in stone traditional tower, which has been impressively renovated by painters and art conservators who have overseen everything from the wall colours to the wooden ceilings. There are 29 rooms; triple rooms, suites and maisonettes, which sleep 5 people. Apart from all the mod cons you would expect, the suites also have jacuzzis, sound systems and two LCD TVs. Another plus is the conference centre and cinema theatre that can accommodate up to 70 people.

What makes this place truly special though is the warm welcome you will receive and the staff’s endeavour to meet your personal requirements.  Domotel Mantania is also a great place to base yourself as there are a number of activities you can enjoy in the surrounding area.

Guesthouse Diochri, Trikala Korinthias

This guesthouse is another example of a hotel that combines great respect for its natural surroundings and the region’s traditional architecture with a modern design aesthetic and service standards.  It’s positioned between Kato and Mesea Trikala and affords great views over the Korinthian gulf and Ziria’s ravines. There are 3 double rooms and 2 suites, which can sleep up to four people.  Each room has an independent heating system, an energy-conserving fireplace, satellite TV, a kitchenette, a mini bar and Coco-Mat beds. The suites have additional hydro massage bath tubs.

Your day can start off with a lovely breakfast, which includes local delicacies and home made jams, followed by relaxing by the fireplace or getting active in the beautiful surrounding trails.
